Situation

BASSE Solutions was called upon to investigate a water leak at Millbrook Park, Mill Hill, North London.

The leak, which resulted in excess water gathering on the grass and ground surrounding the site’s bank, had been left unresolved for almost a year. Left untreated any longer, the leak could severely damage the external grounds and water pipes.

Task

Originally, our team were asked to cut the shrubs and grass surrounding the site to conduct a deeper investigation into the issue.

Usually, the investigation would result in future planned maintenance and or a repair. But on site, we were able to identify an almost immediate resolution.

Action

After discussing the plan of action with our client and cutting the greenery away around the bank to investigate even further, we revealed a tap outlet our client was unaware of.

Confident that this was the source of the problem, our team dug a hole in the ground surrounding the outlet, excavated further down and uncovered a brass stop end. Due to water pressure, this stop end had ruptured and caused the on-going water leak.

Though our initial visit was only investigation-based, our team were able to provide a quick repair by isolating and removing the damaged stop end.

Results

  • Thanks to the quick thinking of our on-site team, the water leak was investigated and repaired on the same day

  • Moreover, our client was thrilled that we were not only able to identify a resolution but were able to act fast

  • Our repair now ensures that Mill Hill’s bank isn’t vulnerable to any further immediate water leaks, however, we have recommended to our client that regular checks and maintenance be conducted to the brass stop end
