Situation
We received a call from a client who had exhausted all other options, following a four-month ongoing problem that had been previously assessed and dealt with by two other contractors who hadn’t managed to locate the issue.
Keen to rectify the ongoing issue with the leak, BASSE Solutions were called to Nashdom Abbey Estate to investigate the issue and rectify it as necessary.
Task
The location and source of the leak weren’t immediately obvious. To carefully locate the source of the leak in the Grade 2 listed property, the BASSE Solutions team had to first examine the area, and make strategic decisions, in order not to cause any damage to the property. To get to the leak, we first removed three porcelain tiles, then proceeded to cut open the floor, without damaging anything below.
Action
Upon investigation, BASSE Solutions discovered a pinhole leak in a 15mm copper pipe. The work required meticulous attention to detail. Limiting dust and noise pollution, the team avoided causing major repair issues by draining the pipe and cutting out the damaged section of the pipework so that it could be replaced immediately.
Once the pipe was replaced, our team then moved on to testing that the pipework was still fully functional. Once turned on, tested and checked, our team left the flooring, allowing it to dry over the weekend before returning the following week and replacing the porcelain tiles, ensuring that the site was left as initially found.
