Task

We were called upon by a long-standing client of ours to fit some new lights in one of their residential properties as part of a larger refurbishment project.

Whilst this case study focuses on the lighting replacement, the walls and woodwork were also decorated, floor levels and fire doors adjusted, and ceiling tiles and carpets were replaced.

Situation

The property had previously been fitted with twin G24q Ansell Lighting throughout the entrance lobby and each communal corridor.

Whilst these lights were fitted with low energy light bulbs, they still weren’t the most efficient and also cast direct light rather than a spread of light, which meant parts of the corridor were shadowed.

Action

Our plan of action for this project was to upgrade the light quality as well as improve efficiency.

As the corridor had a ceiling grid, the most cost-effective solution was to utilise the grid and install 600mm square LED panels into the ceiling grid, replacing the tradition florescent tubes.

Results

  • As a result of the BASSE team’s work, the light now spreads more evenly in the corridors, reducing the amount of shadowing drastically. Good for both security and appearance

  • Additionally, the new fittings have reduced the power consumption per fitting of around 20W which is equivalent to almost a 30% saving

  • Maintenance requirements will significantly reduce as the new, lighter units are secured to the light structure, improving building safety and staying in line with current building regulations
